If you have an old version of MAPublisher then you are missing out on benefits of all the latest tools and features. For example GeoPDF and Adobe Flash export, Thematic Maps, Map Point Locations and Registration, additional file formats like KML for Google, improved Selections, Attributes, easier Style generation, etc. So long as your current version is 6.x or newer then you can upgrade and get back into the Maintenance Programme so you will also get any updates over the next year. Note that there are two tiers of upgrades depending on your current version. The price of the upgrade includes full maintenance and support for one year. Renewal thereafter is voluntary but highly recommended.
