SkyView Historical Posters Launched at the London Bookfair
The first titles in a new series of SkyView Historic Posters were launched at the London Book Fair in March 2003. There are two aerial views in this first release of Operation Overlord covering the Normandy D-Day landing beaches – Juno and a panoramic view of Gold Beach. Omaha and the Mulberry Harbour at Arromanches are due shortly with Utah and Sword to come later.  These images are reproduced from actual reconnaissance photography flown by the USAF early on the morning ofJune 6th, 1944 and offer some amazing views at the start of the liberation of France.

To help you interpret the images please visit our interactive website where you will be able zoom around maps of the region showing the location of cemeteries and museums as well as historical facts about the D-Day beaches. You will also be able to interrogate each of the posters simply by running your mouse across the image before ordering your posters through our catalogue.

The D-Day posters have been produced in collaboration with The GeoInformation Group who have invested a lot of time in sourcing this unique imagery.  If you are interested in historical imagery then please visit www.historicairphotos.com for more information on what imagery is available. All images are © The Geoinformation Group.

You may wish to visit the beaches themselves in which case visit Holts Tours at www.battletours.co.uk
