Better Mapping Seminars to promote good practice throughout the UK Release date: 10 Jun 2008 The Association for Geographic Information (AGI) and The British Cartographic Society (BCS) are pleased to announce 4 joint events to be held around the UK in July 2008. Entitled 'Better Mapping', these one day seminars, featuring a number of expert presenters, will introduce a range of topics and easy methods that will demonstrate how good cartographic practice can greatly improve the quality, accuracy and effectiveness of your digital and hard copy maps. The use of geographic information, digital mapping software and GIS is ever increasing. Never before has the importance of understanding the fundamentals of good map design been more important. A poorly designed map can at least diminish effective communication of information to users and at worst mislead, perhaps seriously. The one day seminars explore the concepts and value of good map design and give delegates practical guidance on how to make great maps using a geographical information system. AGI and BCS believe these events will be of tremendous interest to all individuals involved in creating and outputting maps and welcome you to attend one of the following venues and dates: 1st July: Cardiff - Millennium Stadium 9th July: Edinburgh - Scottish Health Service Centre 16th July: Leeds - Thackray Museum 17th July: London - Royal Statistical Society As a delegate at this event you can allocate 4 points towards the AGI continuing professional development scheme.

Global Mapping offer you a comprehensive series of postcode maps at both Postcode District and Postcode Sector Level.

The Postcode District maps depict the district boundaries which are usually the first 3 characters of your postcode e.g. OX1. Six District maps cover the whole UK. The Postcode Sector maps depict postcode Sector boundaries which are usually the first 4 characters of your postcode e.g. GU1 1. Twenty Sector maps cover the UK.
