Aynho History Society

Established in September 2007; we now have over sixty members.

Our activities focus on local history and our research includes the Aynho Tunnels, which we entered last year.  In 2009 we were awarded Joint First Prize for our research into Sydenham Quarries in a competition run by Banbury Historical Society.

We meet on the LAST Wednesday of each month in Aynho Village Hall at 7.30 pm. 

Annual membership is £10.00 plus £1.00 per meeting for members and £2.50 for guests.

Brackley Dance Fitness

Brackley Junior School every Wednesday

Each class runs for 50mins, 7pm Zumba & 8pm Urban Funk. Zumba is the latest dance fitness craze sweeping across the UK and nationally with influences from Merengue, Salsa, Reggaeton, Cumbia and many more international dance styles. Urban Funk is a hip-hop orientated workout, with different levels of choreography, aimed at burning fat, toning muscles and getting people just a little bit funky. Each class costs £4.

Brackley Cycling Club

During the summer months (BST) we meet every Sunday at 9.00am outside the Leisure Centre on Springfield Way for a relatively gentle morning ride out. Never know where we are going until we leave - that is about 9.15am to give folks time to escape from domestic duties!! We usually ride 30 to 40 miles in Summer at 13 to 14 miles per hour average, with a Coffee break at some point. During winter (GMT) we meet at 10.00 depart by 10.15 but fewer miles.

Brackley European Association meets on the last Thursday of the month at 8:00pm in the lower Town Hall.  We are twinned with Montabaur in Germany (close to Koblenz) and Pavillons sous Bois an outer suburb of Paris.  We are looking for members to visit both of these twin towns on a bi annual basis ie. we go to Germany, France come here then next year we go to France and Germany come here.  Next year we go to Germany and it is the 35th year of twinning with them the date for travel is the 3rd weekend of September.

Brackley Jubilee Choir

Formed in the Jubilee year of 1977 the Brackley Jubilee Choir offers classical music concerts to the town, often comprising full works of well-known composers and, as often as can be afforded, featuring guest soloists and accompanied by orchestra ("The Cherwell").
The choir comprises mixed voices and currently has over forty members.  The conductor is Stuart Hubble and the accompanist Cathy Bowker.
The rehearsals are on Tuesday evenings 7.30pm-9.00pm during school terms at the Chapel of St John and St James (sometimes referred to as Magdalen College Chapel) in the High Street.  Any enquiries should be directed to the Secretary: Mrs Karen Lesniak (01280 706692; k.lesniak@btinternet.com).

Halse United Youth Football Club

Currently run 3 teams-Under 17’s, Under 13’s and under 12’s and play in the Milton Keynes & Border Counties Football League. Our ground is situated in Halse, hence the name. This is private facility and with respect to the owners, no unauthorised persons are allowed at the ground unless it is a match day or if you have  previously arranged with a club official to attend a training session or a trial.

Rare Breeds Survival Trust (RBST) Northants

Our aim is raising awareness of Rare Farm animals in this country, raising funds  and helping to prevent any native breed from becoming extinct.

is one of the national support groups of the RBST. We have a summer and winter programme which includes the winter meetings in The Red Lion Brackley on the first Monday of October, November, January, February and usually March when there is a  guest speaker on topics usually related to the countryside and all are welcome. There is no entrance fee. The summer programme consists of taking our merchandise stall to local shows etc.. and we have an annual poultry and fleece sale near Evenley and a BBQ near Guisborough.

Reality Based Self Defence Organisation  

A non-political organisation offering cutting edge tuition in KyukTooKi (Korean Kickboxing) and Combatives (Self Protection).

The Reality Based Self Defence Organisation has two well established Academies teaching KyukTooKi and Combatives and a stand-alone Combatives Club, all meeting once a week.  The Reality Based Self Defence Organisation also offers seminars and short courses from club to corporate level, including military/armed services and non-armed services, such as Door Supervisors, NHS, etc.
