NEW PRODUCTS FROM GLOBAL MAPPING

Planisphere and Chart of the Heavens

These two products offer an excellent introduction into Stargazing whatever your age!  The Planisphere has been carefully designed to improve on some of the failings with established Planisphere's to the extent where it has been described as 'The Best of dozen's I've used'  The Chart of the Heavens is totally unique and referred to as 'Genius'.  Simple to use, unlike the Planisphere which is restricted to Northern Latitudes, the Chart of the Heavens can be used anywhere in the World.  Both products come with clear instructions plus helpful advice on how to locate planets etc.

 

Paper Globe

Designed by one of the World's leading paper sculptors, (he's currently working on a hat for Lady GaGa and made a paper chair for Ros Brawn)the globe fits together purely with tabs and slots, no scissors or glue is required.  An excellent educational product for children, the pack comes with a World Time Zone map, Flags of the World and a short history and explanation of globes as well as instructions of course!

 

World Tablecloth

Take Global Mapping's colourful World Map, surround it with flags and small bits of information and make it into a tablecloth!  Not quite as simple as it sounds but the end result is a brilliant idea to get the family talking around the kitchen table!  There is also a second tablecloth featuring the Kings and Queens since 1465!  Available as a traditional oilcloth or slightly smaller version printed on Polyart, both versions are wipe clean and offer the opportunity for both adults and children to learn in a fun way

I create/develop and hold relaxation classes for children aged between 4-12 years old. I am a licence holder for "Relax Kids Ltd" which is a method of teaching children relaxation techniques in a creative way. Classes are adapted and created according to the age of the children and generally incorporate some form of dance, movement or warm up, fun games, stretching, breathing excercises, peer massage, postiive affirmations (building self esteem) and visualisations (using age appropriate guided imagery).

The classes are supported by a range of beautifully illustrated books, CD's - a beautiful range of age appropriate meditations based on fairytales for the younger children and more "grown up" meditiatons for the older children, Star and Mood Cards (which children can choose daily for example)these creatively drawn cards help them in their developing emotional intelligence and make help make sense of their emotional world.

EARTH wins Best Atlas in the world

 

On Saturday 21 of November 2009, EARTH, the world’s largest atlas was announced as ‘Best Atlas’ at the 24th International Cartographic Conference 2009 (ICC 2009) in Santiago, Chile.

 

The 20-kg limited edition tome was judged by an independent jury of seven professors and doctors of Cartography from the International Cartographic Association (ICA). Over 70 atlases and 450 maps from around the world were entered into the awards, with EARTH taking the most coveted award of Best Atlas. The accolade establishes EARTH as the best atlas in the world produced in 2009.

 

Damien Demaj, chief cartographer for EARTH was a guest speaker at the ICC 2009 Conference and accepted the award of behalf of the Australian publishing company, Millennium House. Over 700 International delegates attended the week long conference, along with 1400 local visitors. Over 45 countries participated in the atlas exhibition, with EARTH being acknowledged as the best presented.

 

The conference was part of a world tour in which EARTH copy number 0331 was unveiled across the globe; giving individuals the unique opportunity to experience EARTH first-hand. Following the conference, EARTH copy 0331 will return to Australia. 

 

Millennium House is both thrilled and honored to receive this award. The distinguished endorsement acknowledges the legacy of EARTH and all those who contributed to its creation.

 

Millennium House engaged more than 100 international cartographers (including Global Mapping), oceanographers and geographers to produce and collate 355 maps, covering 170 countries. The atlas takes up 580 pages and flaunts 4 gatefolds each measuring over 1.8 meters in length including the famous NASA image ‘Earth from the Sky at Night’. A team of 50 editors gathered popular and unusual geographical facts and our design team selected the most exquisite images, including a large a selection from the National Geographic archives.

 

Consisting of two editions: Royal Blue with 2000 copies and the Imperial Gold collection of 1000 copies. EARTH Royal Blue is sold through leading bookstores and galleries throughout the world. Imperial Gold EARTH can be arranged exclusively through the International Private Collections at Millennium House.
