Brackley’s Christmas Lights

Over the last few years Brackley’s Christmas Lights have become the most talked about in the region.

An initiative by Brackley Town Council, led by Councillor Fiona Baker, meant Brackley’s Market Place and High Street was transformed from uninspiring lights hanging from lamp posts to a wonderful sight of diamond white lights twinkling in the avenue of trees that stretches the length of the shopping area.

The Big Light Switch on has become a major event with shops staying open later as crowds meet in the Market Place in front of the recently restored Town Hall.

The Old Fire Station gets involved as well

Lights are switched on by various characters, theis year it was Peppa Pig, 2 years ago a representative from the Mayors charity Dogs for Good came along.  Before the lights are switched on there is a lantern parade with all the local schools taking part.

Brackley’s Shops also join in

Father Christmas, with the help of Brackley Rotary Club, makes his calls throughout December raising funds for local organisations, schools, scouts etc.

Residents join in decorating their houses, some more than others!
